I recently got laid off and the company I was working for stated that it will revoke my H1-B. However, the same company applied for GC 4 years ago and currently the I-485 approval is pending. I did not renew my EAD after it expired last year and just continued on H1-B. I only renewed my wife's EAD which will expire next year. So, can I apply for renewal of EAD now and stay legally in this country while the EAD is being processed.

You can apply for EAD now. You dont need a job to get SSN because you have EAD.

When I said it just doesn't compare I meant even for the most basic things it sucks more cpu than even flash 8. I give it 3 more years and it will be MS's main form of media for all its partner sites.

You need to provide a delivery address where blue-dart delivers. It will let you move forward once you update the address. I can vaguely remember that there is a link to edit the delivery (courier) address.

My wife went for her biometrics today and what a surprise, her date of birth on the system was wrong.
She only had DL on her and no passport. So, the ASC staff took her biometrics but refused to correct her DOB, claiming that passport was needed.
So, we called up USCIS and upon description of the problem,were immediately transferred to level 2. Level 2 looked at the cases and confirmed that DOB was wrong on I-485. It was correct in I-765 and I-131. She said that the only way to correct it was to take infopass and present passport and DL.
It is now more or less clear that DOB mismatch has caused her EAD to be stalled for so long.I have already got my EAD.
Moral of the story : take passport for FP, infopass, etc. all the time.

it's the A# in your 140 approved petitioin.
Generally spouses won't have this until they get the 485 receipt so they can leave it blank in the 485 application but the principle applicant should have from the 140.

This is a problem. When we try to keep the forums clean, people complain and talk about 'freedom of speech' and that moderators act like dictators. They go and talk rubbish about IV elsewhere.
When we are flexible and allow people to express, people start complaining about abusive comments and posts.
One anonymous user commenting against other anonymous user is hardly of any consequence. To come to IV or not come to IV is your decision. Remember IV is not about forum or red dots or green dots. It is a platform for everyone to meet and work towards fixing the system. If a person is committed to the cause, he would not be bothered by any distraction.

You are in a pretty tight spot my friend. I think a lawyer is the best person to answer these questions since you are walking a very fine line here. I dont want you to rely on advice on this forum and then later find out that you were out of status and that triggers another set of challenges to deal with later. So consult a lawyer and see if he/she feels that you can stay back in US pending H1 approval. Else I would advice moving out for 1 Yr and starting things on clean slate.

We have a wealth of information from A to Z on US Immigration, why dont we ourselves write articles and editorials and get them published in the News Papers, Journals, etc?
Why are we waiting for some one to come to us and take information to write articles on us. Does Newspapers check the background of authors to verify if they are citizens/non-citizens/green card holders/ H1B's. What all matters to them is quality and authenticity of the articles.
Do you folks think this a good option to pursue?

I traveled ORD-HYD via Frankfort last month with out stamping; but has AP in hand. No one questioned or looked at my AP. If you have a Indian passport I think you should be good to got back; problem is only when you want to come back to US with out AP or stamping.

I was informed that without I-94 card she cannot be added to my insrurance.
Can anyone suggest me some good insurance I can take online/india for this kind of situation...???

I have never seen anyone asking for an I-94 card to get your wife added to your insurance.If you are an employee going through employers insurance then they have to add you and your family to the insurance coverage without any discrimination . That is as far as I know . Maybe I could be wrong but I am pretty sure about it. You can take her insurance without she being here . I recently changed my coverage this month for myself and my family and its start date was the same day I submitted the forms and not the 1st of next month or something like that.
