One thing to be leery of is, yes keep your original ram and if you bring it in for Applecare, make sure to put the original ram back in laptop.
What often happens is the person servicing your laptop will restore it to original specs. So if you machine is a 4GB machine, they might take out your 8GB trash it and put in their 4GB so it matches the computer build. I've read many stories on these forums of people losing their expensive harddrive or ram and got back stock items.
I think I would be mad if they "trashed" my ram and/or hard drive. Hopefully, I do not have to find out.

A certain company is trying to shift product udpates away from major Expos. They've found that the lack of orders directly preceding an expo, as well as the expo dates not agreeing with major edu buying schedules have made this a bad idea.
You can expect to see new software releases at all Apple expos, and sometimes product introductions, but I think that will be it in the future.
This allows for a more consistent sales pattern, and keeps you guessing as to when updates arrive.

Am I the only one who feels this way?
Yes.....You are ! So what if you get a dropped call once in a while? Some people take it to far sometimes. I live in a rural area and it is rare that my Internet goes down and if it does, I just reboot it and it works !

Thanks gents, the flowchart is a nice start i guess :) It's the kind of thing that I was looking for, although very simplified, basically some thing that guides you in a way I.e. Logo is trying to emote felling x, try using font y - or something like that

:) Yes, your iBook will be much happier with 640MB of RAM. It's too bad the other 128MB is hardwired onto the board... 1GB would be nice.

"Black Email of Death"
"Death Grip"?
What is it about the internet that it encourages everyone to be so dramatic with every issue, even a dead pixel. ("The pixel is dead! DEAD! I could handle a sick pixel, but a dead one?")
not sure but i think it goes way back to the Windows' Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).
but yeah, i agree - what's with the drama over these technical glitches, and with most small things in life?

I have an old LC 575 that I'm using for mostly playing games and some word processing, no internet, though. I'm wondering if I should upgrade from 7.5.5 to 7.6 or from 7.5.5 to 8.0. I'm probably going to pick up 32mb of RAM soon, so I'm ready for any OS to be on it.
Any thoughts?

No, but Skynet did take over Apple. See proof (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/20/researchers-disclose-iphone-and-ipad-location-tracking-privacy-issues/).
I always wondered if Arn let you guys keep all the Spam you delete. :)

I'm there with the Bear.
Also, from an email I got from apple: Apple Expo will begin at 11 a.m. (CET) Tuesday, September 20 at the Porte de Versailles in Paris. There will not be a formal keynote presentation at this year's Apple Expo at Palais des Congrs.
So I'm guessing that means no major releases. You may have to hold out a while longer for your multi-media 'Pod yet!
..But you never know with Apple - damn them, damn them all!

A 2TB Seagate ST32000541AS on my 3.4GHz i7 with 2GB 6970M. I have not been able to get any details of this drive on Seagate's website.
Any pointers to more details will be helpful.
Thanks.
Based on Seagate's Model Formats (http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=204763&Hilite=model#desktop), it has 32MB of cache.
There is a Seagate Barracuda LP ST32000542AS available (2TB, 5900RPM) similar to that model number. But Apple wouldn't put a slower drive in when they advertise it as being 7200RPM.
On the other hand, there is also a ST32000641AS (http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/desktops/barracuda_xt/) (the 6 likely indicating 64MB of cache) available as a 6Gb/s drive.
Perhaps the single number difference means there is 32MB cache? I couldn't find any exact specifications based on the "541" part.
Any pointers to more details will be helpful.

"How about economics? The greek symbol represents elasticity of demand. The vertical axis (TR) represents total revenue. If this is the case, the horizontal axis would actually be the reciprocal of the price of the product. The graph, therefore, shows what is happening to total revenue (total expenditures on a good) as you raise the price of the good. When the elasticity of demand is less than one, total revenue rises as the price rises, when the elasticity of demand is equal to one, total revenue remains constant, and when demand is elastic (greater than one), total revenue decreases as the price of the good increases."
